Mollie & Richard’s Friday the 13th Wedding at Samlesbury Hall

Some weddings whisper romance. Mollie and Richard’s roared it — with a battle cry of motorbikes, skulls, and unapologetic individuality.

Set against the haunting grandeur of Samlesbury Hall, one of Britain’s most haunted venues, their Friday the 13th wedding was the perfect collision of fate, symbolism, and dark beauty. After surviving a near-fatal motorbike accident, the couple knew the theme ‘Til Death’ wasn’t just decorative — it was deeply personal.

“That experience gave real weight to the phrase ‘til death do us part,’” Mollie explained. “We wanted our wedding to reflect both our story and our personalities.”

An Unapologetically Alternative Celebration

Mollie and Richard’s day was a masterclass in gothic romance and meaningful rebellion.
Mollie wore a black gown by Legend Bridal Designs, its drama heightened by her deep green-clad bridesmaids. Richard mirrored her palette in an emerald-green suit — a perfect balance of dark and divine.

The décor read like a love letter to the macabre: coffin arches, skull centrepieces, chains, dark green velvets, and candlelight that flickered against the historic stone. Real animal skulls and replica human ones were used throughout, styled alongside moody florals of deep red and green. Every element felt intentional — nothing pretty for pretty’s sake, but each piece steeped in story.

Til Death — and Beyond

The couple leaned all the way into their date — Friday the 13th — drawing inspiration from the cult films and superstition alike. Their ceremony backdrop featured a coffin structure, LED candles, and skull plinths from The Blackened Teeth. Mollie walked down the aisle to Warmness on the Soul by Avenged Sevenfold — a surprise choice that brought Richard to tears.

They skipped personal vows to keep things relaxed and true to them. As Mollie put it, “We wanted to enjoy the moment without being full of nerves.” Imperfections made it all the more perfect — LED candles toppling, rings reluctant to slide on — real moments that spoke of love in its truest form: messy, funny, alive.

A Celebration of Who They Are

Once the formalities were done, chaos and joy reigned supreme. Guests were treated to axe throwing in the courtyard (because, why not?) and free tattoos from a live tattoo artist — a detail that guests are still talking about. Instead of cake, they had brownies and flapjacks, and instead of a sit-down meal, they opted for wood-fired pizzas, canapés, and ice cream cones.

The soundtrack for the day? Pure rebellion — nothing but alternative rock and punk, no cheesy classics allowed.

Craft, Symbolism, and Soul

The couple’s attention to detail was impeccable. Mollie accessorised with jewellery from Hellcat Jewellery, Black Hearts Jewellery, Disturbia, and others that embodied their aesthetic. The skull plinths and real bones, carefully cleaned by the couple themselves, gave the venue a museum-like reverence.

And of course, their motorbikes took pride of place — a reminder of the life they share both on and off the road.

In Mollie’s Words

“Our wedding was an unapologetically alternative celebration set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of Samlesbury Hall. We fully leaned into the Friday the 13th date and Til Death theme with a moody, gothic aesthetic, candles, chains, skulls, and a black-and-green colour scheme. We worked with an incredible team who brought our vision to life, and we honestly wouldn’t change a thing.”

A Love Story Etched in Ink and Iron

Every detail of Mollie and Richard’s day reflected who they are — wild, defiant, and full of love. It wasn’t a performance of tradition, but a declaration of identity.

Their Friday the 13th wedding didn’t shy away from darkness — it danced in it, proving that when you embrace who you truly are, the result is nothing short of magic.
